Feb 28, 2022 · iMac not detecting external display Hi, My iMac 27" (2019 version) can't detect the external display (hp 27" 2K monitor) after an accidental power shut down (I accidentally unplug the power). The rest of the ports are located on the rear of the display. To use any of these iMac models as an external display: The iMac used as a display must have macOS High Sierra or earlier installed. My imac does accurately detect the monitor but the monitor will not show anything. They have been reliable monitors so I haven't needed to replace them. It sometimes goes blank too. You may have to then setup the monitor as a Mirrored Display then switch to Extend Display to complete the setup.
